Terms and Conditions

1. 1 When you book and make payment for a class you are signifying your agreement to these Terms and Conditions. It is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with the Terms and Conditions before you proceed with an application to join.

1.2 We reserve the right to modify, cancel or amend these Terms and Conditions. The current Terms and Conditions appear on our Website. Whilst a Member of HCT, the most recent Terms and Conditions shall apply.

1.3  Membership runs from the initial payment of fees until the end of that term’s performances.

2.1 New Members:  Fees will be paid in advance of the start of term.  All new members have the first two sessions as a “trial” to confirm whether they will remain for the term in its entirety or cancel membership and receive a refund of fees.  New members must attend the first two classes of the term after which, should they decide it is not suitable for them, a full refund will be given (less £15 administration charge).

2.2 Current Members:  anyone who has already attended HCT for one term or more no longer has the right to the two week trial period.

2.3 No refunds are given beyond the first two weeks of term.

3.1 Waiting List: an email will be sent out on receipt of your waiting list form, but this does not guarantee a place in a particular Class.

3.2  Prospective customers on the Waiting List will be contacted and notified of a place for the relevant age group firstly if they are a sibling of a current pupil, secondly in order of the date the form was received.

4.1  Any child who causes excessive disruption within their class will be asked to leave for the benefit of others.

4.2  All children will be given a fair explanation of what is expected of them.  If poor behaviour continues a conversation with parents will follow.  The last step would be removal from HCT

5.1  All children attending (except Seniors) must bring black ballet shoes (or black plimsolls for boys) and black tap shoes.  These should be clearly labelled

5.2  There is a second hand shoe box which operates as a "shoe exchange".  When you have outgrown dance shoes that can be reu-used, please add them to the box.  If you require a new size, please check with the Junior Assistant to help you find a new/ 2nd hand pair to use.  And so it goes on...

5.3  During Covid restrictions, there will be no selling or sharing of footwear

6.1  It is expected that all children will perform in the end of term production

6.2  If you are unable to attend any performances, notice must be given in writing (email) to Muffin Hurst at the earliest opportunity.

6.3  If it is deemed that your child’s absence is too great or too impeding on the rest of the cast, they may lose the right to perform at all

7.1 Performance: all parents are responsible for their own children at the performance venue until they “sign in” their children and “sign out” on departure

7.2 All parents are expected to help their own children in to costume and take them for make up, or deliver them via an Assistant for make up

7.5  No snacks containing nuts are permitted at Performances or rehearsals of any kind

8.1  We reserve the right to cancel a class at any time up to and including the date of that class.  Wherever possible an alternative date will be scheduled.

8.2  We reserve the right to alter or extend class times as a production reaches final stages, as well as scheduling any additional rehearsals.  Reasonable notice will be given

8.3  We reserve the right to change a rehearsal venue if necessary.

8.4  Notifications of all changes will be sent out via email, plus a note on our website

9.1 We accept children on the assumption that they are in good health and it is your responsibility to alert us to any medical complaint or history suffered by your child

9.2 We do not accept liability for death or personal injury to any child attending save to the extent that such death or injury shall be caused by the negligence or default of any member of our staff or any other default on our part.

9.3 Without prejudice to the above provisions, we do not accept any responsibility for your child until there has been a conscious handover of your child by you or your carer which is accepted by a member of our staff. This means that you must witness your child being acknowledged and ticked into the class. For the avoidance of doubt, we do not accept responsibility for children left at the main entrance of venues or who enter on their own from outside any building or space that we hire.

9.4  We do not accept responsibility for any loss of, or damage to, personal property belonging to you or your child irrespective of whether such possessions might be used by you or the child for the purposes of any HCT activity save to the extent that such loss or damage shall be caused by the negligence or default of any member of our staff or any other default on our part.

10.  It is your responsibility to ensure that we have current contact details for you and all adults authorised to pick up your child. You must also keep us appraised of any changes in the health or other relevant circumstances of you or your child.

11.1  Covid 19:  Classes will continue while Government guidelines do not prohibit such activities.

11.2  An up to date Risk Assessment has been made for HCT, together with a further Risk Assessment from Sacred Heart Parish Hall.

11.3  We will continue to work towards an end of term Production.  As far as possible, all contingencies to offer some sort of show for the children will be explored.  If this is not possible, it will be due to circumstances beyond our control.

11.4  Should Government restrictions prevent classes from taking place, refunds will not be given.  Where possible, classes will be re-scheduled at a later stage.  If you are unable to attend the re-scheduled classes, refunds will not be applicable.  The number of classes missed will be made up by a minimum of 50% at the discretion of HCT Management.

11.5  HCT reserve the right to amend the class timetable and dates to continue tuition to Members under new Covid regulations.  Should a Member opt out of classes for personal reasons, a refund will not be applicable.

11.6  At all times, it is to be understood that HCT is a small, independent business, aiming to teach children in a fun environment, and adhering to safety rules.  If classes are not permitted due to circumstances beyond our control, it will be a loss to both teachers and pupils.  Please be assured that a fair and reasonable solution will always be sought, but understanding for the future and longevity of such an enterprise requires consideration and appreciation of these Terms and Conditions.

12.1  No provision of these Terms and Conditions shall operate or be construed to operate so as to exclude or restrict our liability under the provisions of any UK legislation in force from time to time which are not capable of being excluded or restricted.
