All the world's a stage...

. . . So learn to tread the boards with HCT!

Fun drama classes for children aged 4 to 16 - developing confidence and life skills to take them to the stage and beyond.
If your child loves the idea of performing, or needs more confidence, then look no further.

Muffin Hurst, with a lifetime of teaching experience, expertly encourages children of all abilities at Henley’s original theatre school.

Singing, acting, dancing and tap dancing are all taught and showcased at the hugely popular end of term production.

Whether the children pursue a career in the entertainment industry or simply take away skills that stay with them for life, all share fond memories of their time at HCT.

Although more than half a century old, The Henley Children's Theatre enjoys an unparalleled reputation in the Henley-on-Thames area and remains young, fresh and vibrant at heart.

When

Classes take place on Saturdays, roughly following school term dates.  There are two terms commencing in January or September.  Children do not need to audition, as this group is open to all: energy and enthusiasm are the main requirements. Singing, acting, dancing and tap dancing are taught, all building towards an end of term production.

Age Groups

Classes are categorised by age. Class A is for 4-6 year olds, Class B is 7-8 year olds, Class C is 9-11 year olds, and the Seniors is for 11+ years.  There is room for a little manoeuvre, and this is the general guide.

HCT is inclusive and all the pupils perform on stage, regardless of ability.  In September 2022, Class A will run from 9-10am, Class B 10-11.15am, Class C 11.15-12.30pm and Seniors 12.30-1.30 until November when the class extends to 2pm.

Ethos

Extra-curricular activities should be FUN, but also beneficial. Theatre skills are explored in an informal environment where children learn more than simply performing. Team-work and encouragement aid personal development. Confidence grows, discovering the unique ability to spread joy and happiness through the art of music and theatre.

Results

HCT children are confident, happy and proud of their achievements. They can speak to a large crowd - whether a theatre audience, school auditorium or job presentation. Communication skills are advanced. Diction and projection are improved. HCT helps pupils be the best humans they can be.
