HCT offers your children a fun and worthwhile activity. The Saturday classes are informal and entertaining, giving children a well deserved break from the rigours of today’s education; friendships are forged while singing, dancing and playing drama games. The environment enables shy children to develop confidence and gradually emerge from their shells. Equally, extrovert children have a platform to perform and exert their energy.
Muffin Hurst has been teaching at HCT for almost 3 decades and has an innate understanding of children, always nurturing their individuality and encouraging them to go a little further. The young children enjoy their weekly Saturday fun, often without even realising that they are being driven towards an end production. It is a credit to the group how gently the children are corralled along and yet they all end up appearing in a show of excellent quality. The children have many drama exercises to develop speech, projection, role play and team bonding, which are all executed with fun, laughter and encouragement from everyone involved.
HCT produce 2 shows per year at the Kenton Theatre. The main focus of the year is the very successful and popular Pantomime, normally held the week after Christmas. There is also a smaller, low key end of term Summer production in June. All the children take part and rightly feel proud of and excited by their achievements. Performing on a real stage, to a very real audience is a fantastic skill for any child. The lessons learned are valuable life skills that will aid them throughout schooling and future careers.
